Ask PostgreSQL questions in plain English

With SayQL you can ask PostgreSQL questions in plain English. It knows your schema and writes the SQL as you type.

Get started

  1. Download SayQL for macOS, Windows or Linux.
  2. Click New connection, pick PostgreSQL, fill in the details and click Test, then Save. Turn on Require SSL for hosted databases.
  3. Pick an AI in Settings → AI provider: Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, a local model and more.
  4. Type your question in the Ask box and press ↵ to run it.

Example questions

  • "Customers who signed up this month"
  • "Top 10 products by revenue last quarter"
  • "Orders with no shipment yet"

"Top 10 products by revenue last quarter" might come back as:

SELECT p.name, SUM(oi.quantity * oi.unit_price) AS revenue
FROM order_items oi
JOIN products p ON p.id = oi.product_id
JOIN orders o ON o.id = oi.order_id
WHERE o.created_at >= date_trunc('quarter', now()) - interval '3 months'
  AND o.created_at < date_trunc('quarter', now())
GROUP BY p.name
ORDER BY revenue DESC
LIMIT 10;

Then follow up: "only Canada", "add the order count".

What keeps it safe

Read-only by default. Reads run inside a read-only transaction, so PostgreSQL itself refuses writes. Anything that could change data asks you first.

The AI sees table and column names, types, keys, enum values and row estimates, never your table rows. More in Run queries safely and Databases.
